 2-5 -8 CA "Blue" @ NRCA

  CA " Blue jumped out to at 11-6 1st quarter lead , but then fell behind 17-15 going into halftime as turnovers in the 2nd quarter led to a deficit. CA' Blue" used good full court pressure in the 3rd quarter to surge ahead, and timely free throws to seal the victory 40-33. CA " Blue was led by Matt Williams with 8 points.

 2-7-08  CA Blue vs Cary Christian

 This was a hard fought game from the start with multiple lead changes throughout. CA Blue had multiple opportunities , but could not convert their offensive rebounds. CA Blue made a valiant comeback in the 4th quarter from 8 back, but ran out of time to fall 34-36. CA Blue was led by Matt Williams with 11 points, and Aaron Overton with 9 Points .

  2-8-08  CA Blue vs Ravenscroft

  The game started fast and furious with each team exchanging scores with the Ravens holding a 13-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. They extended to halftime with a 25-17 lead with good half court sets and inside play. The Ravens  continued their play in the second half by good offensive sets and packed in defense  to finish with a 46-34 win. CA blue was a little short handed due to the flu, but poor communication on defense led to their demise by a solid and strong Ravenscroft squad. CA Blue was led by Matt Williams with 12 points, and Aaron Overton with 10 points. CA Blue looks to next week as the TMSC tournament begins.

CA @ East Wake Academy  54 - 36

  CA " Blue" came out strong against a young, and undersized EWA squad to lead 21-4 after one quarter.  " Blue" continued  the use of  good defense, and turnover opportunities to take a 36-8 lead into half time. With multiple player combinations utilized in the second half, all players saw considerable playing time. " Blue " finished strong to post a  54-36 win. CA " Blue" was led by Gaurav Judge with 10 points, Jared Sarnoff 8 points, Matt Lee, Harrison Atkinson, and Aaron Overton chipped in with 6  a piece. CA " Blue" looks to an important week as games with NRCA, Cary Christian, and Ravenscroft will dictate their seeding for the conference tournament.

Ravenscroft 49  Cary Academy "Blue" 38

  The game started out as a up and down affair as each team attacked each others full court press for layups. The Ravens led after one quarter 16-15. The ravens pulled ahead in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-22 lead into halftime. CA' Blue" came out well to start the 3rd quarter whittling the ravens lead to 3, but then deficiencies in team defense led to a couple of easy Ravenscroft baskets to fall behind 38-30 going into the 4th quarter. The Ravens used good half court offense, a tightly packed zone, and fast break points to pull away and win 49-38. CA' Blue" must work on team defense and half court offense in order to compete at the middle school level. CA' Blue" was led by Matt Williams with 9 points, Guarav Judge with 6 points, and off the bench, Eric Fisher provided good spark with 10 points.

Cary Academy "Blue" 45  St. David's 26 @ Cary Academy

 CA ' Blue" started strong to gain a 11-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. They continued their pressure defense to force turnovers and extended their lead to 27-13 at halftime. In the second half  CA "blue' showed good half court patience and solid rebounding to finish with a 45-26 victory. CA " blue" was led by Matt Williams with 9 points, Harrison Atkinson 7 points, 5 rebounds, and Aaron Overton  6 points, and 6 rebounds. CA 'blue" received good bench spark as 12 out of 14 players posted in the scoring column. More importantly all players contributed on the defensive end with good rebounding, help defense, and half court pressure. CA "blue" looks to improve in and out of league play as tough contests loom with Ravenscroft, Magellan, NRCA, EWA, and Cary Christian.

Cary Academy " Blue" 43 vs NRCA 41 @ Cary Academy

  CA' Blue" ran out to  first quarter lead of 16-12 with good inside play. " Blue extended their lead at halftime  to 28-22 with a good inside presence. The game tighten up in the 2nd half as teams traded baskets throughout and CA "blue" won a close one 43-41. " Blue" seemed a bit sluggish in their man to man defense and a well schooled NRCA team stayed in the game with stellar free throw shooting(14-18). " Blue was led by Harrison Atkinson with 12 points and 5 rebounds, Gaurav Judge 6 points, and Jared Sarnoff 8 points, Matt Williams 6 points. " Blue" must improve their defense to compete in league play as the second round begins on Thursday against St. Davids.

CA vs St. David's @ St. David's   45 - 25

  CA "Blue" came out ready to play and led 12-9 after the first quarter. They continued into the second quarter with fast break opportunities and good solid defense to lead at half time, 25-17. There was no let up starting the second half, and "Blue " continued to stretch their lead to 39-22 at the end of three quarters. CA "Blue" continued to the end will all players contributing to finish with a win , 45-25. CA " Blue" was led by Matt Williams with 13 points, Guarav Judge 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 block, and Aaron Overton with 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Chipping in with 4 points a piece were, Jared Sarnoff, Harrison Atkinson, and Ben Ramger. CA " Blue" played much better with some patience in their half court offense, good fast break opportunities, pretty good team defense, good rebounding, and better free throw  shooting( 6-10). All players contributed in their first league win, and  CA " Blue" looks to  improve as league play continues.

 CA vs Durham Academy at Cary Academy   26-29

After a poor start "" Blue' fell behind 10-2 to a game tested Durham Academy squad. The game shifted in the second quarter as pressure defense and attacking offense pulled " Blue" back to only trail by 2 at halftime( 16-18). Blue tied the game going into the fourth quarter as Josh Corn, Tyler Stholman, Matt Lee, Eric Schwartz, Alex Coeytaux, and Keenan Szulik provided spark off the bench. The fourth quarter was foul plagued , but hard fought,and  Durham Academy's timely free throws sealed " Blue"'s fate. Unfortunately poor free throw shooting by " Blue" ( 7-23), limited half court scoring, and untimely turnovers are deficiencies that must be overcome. " Blue' was led by Matt Williams with 9 points and Jared Sarnoff with 6 points. " Blue" will continue to work hard and look to improve in the coming weeks as free throw shooting, half court offense, and defense will be stressed.

CA at Magellan charter School   42-44

After a very hard fought first quarter, " Blue" trailed to an experienced Magellan squad 13-10. After a stagnant second and third quarter, " Blue' fell behind by as much as 14 points towards the mid way point of the fourth quarter. " Blue " then put together a valiant comeback , led by Matt Williams 14 fourth quarter points to pull within 3. Unfortunately "blue" fell short to lose 42-44. Once again untimely turnovers and poor free throw shooting (2-9) plagued the squad. "Blue' was led by Matt Williams with 24 points, Aaron Overton with 5 points and 7 rebounds, and Grady Rosenkampff had 7 points.

CA @ Cary Christian(Gold) 31-34 OT

"Blue"  got off to a good start with pressure defense and good  transition offense to lead after one quarter 8-7. Two stagnant quarters followed though and " Blue trailed going into the fourth quarter 28-20. Full court pressure ensued in the fourth quarter and "blue" out scored Cary Christian 10-2 to send the game into overtime. Unfortunately the boys could only muster limited offense in overtime to lose a close one 31-34. " Blue was led by Matt Williams with 16 points, followed by Aaron Overton with 4 points and 9 rebounds and 4 points from Harrison Atkinson. The game was extremely competitive and hard fought, but turnovers and poor foul shooting(4-11)once again plagued the "Blue" squad.

December 7 @ Durham Academy  22-26

    The Boys Middle School Blue team kicked off the '07 - '08 season on the road at Durham Academy.  Nerves and turnovers were apparent for both teams as each struggled to score given the half time score of DA 16 and CA "Blue" 8. After stiffening their defense in the fourth quarter, CA " Blue" got to within 2 points, but could not overcome 3 final turnovers, falling 26-22. CA ' Blue" was led by Matt Williams with 10 points and Gaurav Judge with 4 points and 4 rebounds. 'Blue" needs to improve its turnover ratio and team defense in order to compete.

December 12 @ Cary Academy  20-54

  Facing a veteran, game tested squad from Our Lady of Lourdes, turnovers and missed lay-ups stymied our offense and put CA "blue" behind at half time 19-10. Lacking a solid team defensive stand,Our Lady of Lourdes scored at will and CA" Blue" was handily beaten in the second half to fall 54-20.  CA " Blue" was led by Ben Ramger 6 points, Matt Williams 4 points, and Harrison Atkinson with 4 points. Effort, enthusiasm, and energy will be stressed to the " Blue" squad in forthcoming practices, especially on the defensive end of the court.

December 19 @ Triangle Day School 54-17

    CA " Blue" came out with defensive pressure from the start against a smaller team from TDS. We jumped to a first quarter lead of 20-5 and  continued to the final buzzer  , with all players contributing.  Good offensive sets, team defense, and rebounding prevailed.

 CA" Blue" was led by Jared Sarnoff 14 points, Harrison Atkinson 8 points, and Matt Williams 8 points. A good win for us going into winter break as we look to build on this effort as league play begins in '08.
