Student Rights: No Backpacks
Becca Poole

A new policy stating that students are not permitted to bring backpacks upstairs in the library has been instituted this year.  Librarian Tracy Ansley and Upper School Dean of Students, Troy Weaver, were responsible for making this decision.  According to Ms. Ansley, “Last year, we had problems with thousands of dollars worth of books and some zip drives being stolen."

Service is the Key

Good News!  The Key Club has come to Cary Academy.  Sponsored by the Kiwanis club, the Key Club is an organization for high school students that stresses school and community service.  Sacramento-area Kiwanis members founded the first Key Club at Sacramento High School in 1925, as “a junior service club composed of high school boys who are the 'key' boys [and, as of 1977, girls] of the school”.

600 Seconds

The newest, and perhaps most carefully “watched” club on campus this year is the Upper School news show, 600 Seconds. The show is broadcast on a closed circuit TV system throughout the Upper School every morning during the break between second and fourth periods.
