We
made it safely to Beijing! The train ride was about 7 hours! The
students are now with their host students from The Affiliated High
School of Peking University for the night and will spend the day with
them on Monday, June 06, 2005 and return back to the hotel on Tuesday
morning.
The train ride was a sleepy one for all from Zheng-Zhou to Beijing!
Some students caught up on their journals at first but then mostly
everyone slept. We were in the sleeping cart for this trip, which was
good since we had to leave the hotel by 6:00 AM. There were 6 bunks to
an area.
We
arrived in Beijing around 3:30 PM and at the hotel around 5:00 PM. The
students then packed an overnight bag and we went to our sister school
in Beijing. On the way we noticed some things about Beijing. There are
many more foreigners here, two there is a McDonald’s across the street,
and there are many more American fastfood restaurants here!
The dinner at our sister school was terrific! There were french fries
for us and this made us all happy! They showed a video they put
together from their visit to Cary Academy and then they invited us to
play a game. The host student had to describe a word in English, like
winter and then our student had to give the answer in Chinese. It was
very funny at times and everyone did great.
