Assessment
The
diversity of projects in this class requires that the
grading system be based not only on the finished product,
but the artistic process as well. Project grades are given
at midterm and at the end of the trimester. This grade
reflects the craftsmanship, creativity, innovative nature,
and personal challenge of the project(s) that students are
producing. In addition, studio grades are given
periodically throughout the trimester. The following
criteria are used in determining studio grades:
-
A
earned by students who are consistently focused on their
art, display exceptional craftsmanship and innovation,
and excel at working independently at a personally
challenging level
-
B
earned by students who are usually focused on their art,
display good craftsmanship, and work independently most
of the time
-
C
earned by students who experience difficulty remaining
focused on their art, lack effort in craftsmanship, and
need frequent reminders to stay on task
-
D

art, experience difficulty in meeting minimal
craftsmanship expectations, and whose lack of ability to
stay on task disturbs others
