Course Title/Code:  Multimedia Production Technologies  Art 760

(Full year/ 3 periods per week)                                                1/2 credit 

Course Description:  This course is an in-depth exploration of multimedia production using diverse digital technologies to design, produce, edit, and distribute video and audio sources. Students will learn the techniques of scripting, modeling, animating, editing, special effects, compositing, and creating and distributing audio and visual projects using original-sourced and third-party images and sounds including still visuals, animated visuals, sound sources, and live footage. Students will be expected to complete multiple projects during the course and by year-end will produce a professional quality, visual segment and distribute the project via tape, DVD, or web streaming file. 

This project-based class will be taught in collaboration with other departments including English (design, scripting, and storyboarding), Computer Science (web design), and Arts (set design and lighting and audio design and control). This course will concentrate on digital sources rather than live source production (which is taught as a separate Video Tech course). 

Prerequisite: This course is for students who are both technically competent and who wish to work creatively. Students must have experience in (or be able to quickly grasp) complex computer technologies.  

Prerequisite: This course is designed for students who either have completed the year-long Multimedia Production Technologies course or who are highly experienced with Flash, Premiere, and LightWave.

Grading: The class grade will be based on completion of project milestones and effort put into each project.
