This
course is an advanced animation course that extends the
methodologies learned in the Multimedia Production
Technologies course. This class will require extensive
independent work on projects culminating at the end of the
trimester with a major video 2D or 3D animation that
reinforces other academic or social aspects of the Cary
Academy community. Students will work almost exclusively
with Flash, Swift 3D, and LightWave which are 2D and 3D
animation applications. Some minor work will be required in
Premiere and AfterEffects.
Prerequisite:
This course is designed for students who either have
completed the year-long Multimedia Production Technologies
course or who are highly experienced with Flash, Premiere,
and LightWave.
Grading:
The class grade will be based on completion of project
milestones and effort put into each project.
Projects:
Projects will incorporate major modeling, animation, or
composition using LightWave, Premiere, or After Effects.
Projects will be reviewed and critiqued every two weeks. The
projects will be completed by the making of a minimum
3-minute video that will also be converted into a streaming
video to be placed on Cary Academy’s web site. All projects
will be placed in competition for the end of year Cary
Academy Film Festival. Some of the areas that could be used
as projects include the following:

South Park like characters

Goldberg machine

Celshaded cartoons

Baseball hat and shoes playing baseball (using models
provided by LightWave )

Roller coaster with multiple camera views.
