This class
is designed to provide the student with an interactive,
hands-on look into basic stage combat techniques and
movement tools employed by the theater professional.
Students will explore connections between the breath and the
body through animal and element imagery and the work of
movement theorists Rudolph Laban and Frederick Alexander.
Students will also investigate and master unarmed combat
techniques, including falls, slaps, punches, and kicks.
Emphasis will be placed on the choreography of
sequences/combinations and the incorporation of combat into
text and scene work. The course will conclude with an
introduction to rapier technique. May be repeated.
